Legend Homes, Lake Oswego, Oregon
Kathi Ott from Legend Homes heard about Operation Santa from a television interview in early November 2007. In just a few short weeks she rallied the Legend Homes “team” and organized an Operation Santa packing party to ship holiday packages to more than 700 deployed Marines. Donations continued to flow in to help as the word got out and in December 2007 additional funds were allocated to help deliver holiday gifts to the wounded Marines and soldiers at Bethesda, Walter Reed, Balboa and Brook Hospitals. Legend Homes of Lake Oswego “ROCKS”!
Furniture Outlet, McMinnville, Salem, Newburg, Hubbard and Tigard, Oregon
Trudy and Rick Palo heard about Operation Santa at a University of Oregon Ducks game. It was the inspiration of Trudy Palo to promote the Operation Santa project to the people of Oregon through the media. KOIN and KPTV television stations and KWJJ radio jumped in to help. Donation sites were set up at each store and on Veterans Day weekend in November 2007 hundreds of stocking stuffer items were dropped off. Trudy and Rick Palo envisioned a way to support our troops through their business which lead to a huge outpour of community donations and volunteers. We truly appreciate your generous contribution.
Morongo Band of Mission Indians
The Morongo Indian Tribe and the Morongo Casino made a major donation in 2006 to support Marines deployed from the base at 29 Palms in southern California. Their donation made it possible to send hundreds of stockings to deployed Marines from MAGTFTC-29 Palms.
Pony Village Mall in North Bend, OR
Kathleen and Paul Rudder, owners of the Pony Village Mall, provided storefront space, hosted the kickoff BBQ for the Operation Santa 2007 for the southern Oregon coast. The southern Oregon coast sent 19% of all Operation Santa stockings last year, and we very much appreciate the support shown by Kathleen and Paul Rudder.
Wal-Mart, Springfield, Missouri
With the leadership of Operation Santa Coordinator Mary Lou Webb donations from Wal-Mart helped to send holiday packages to more than 170 US Marines deployed in Iraq in 2006 and 2007. In August of 2007 the US Marines returned home and were hosted by the Springfield Cardinals for the “Semper Fi” night. It was an event of recognition and honor for these brave US Marines.
Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, Keizer, Oregon
In October 2007 management from Applebee’s held a Operation Santa benefit to help with shipping costs for the holiday packages. Tickets were sold with 100% of the proceeds donated to the project and Applebee employees served breakfast to more than 100 hungry patrons. Oregon National Guard members were invited to a “FREE” breakfast as our “THANK YOU” for a job well done.
Coos Bay Nissan, Inc., Coos Bay, Oregon
Operation Santa Coordinator Kendra Parry received a generous donation from the Coos Bay Nissan. During the month of November 2006 the automobile dealership made a donation for each car that was sold for the entire month. WOW ~ what a deal……Once again Operation Santa successfully mailed more than 2000 filled holiday packages all because the people of Coos Bay Nissan recognized the importance of giving back. Will you?
